Why Build an ADU in California?
California’s ADU-friendly laws make it easier than ever to add value to your property. Here’s why thousands of homeowners are investing in ADUs.
Generate Rental Income
ADUs in California can generate $1,500-$3,500+ monthly rental income depending on location and size. Many homeowners see their ADU pay for itself within 5-8 years while building long-term equity.
Multi-Generational Living
Keep family close while maintaining independence. An ADU provides the perfect solution for aging parents who want to stay nearby, or adult children saving for their first home.

Frequently Asked Questions About ADUs in California
Everything you need to know about building an ADU in California
Do you offer complete ADU design and construction services?
Yes! We offer complete turnkey ADU services—design, permits, and construction—all under one roof with one point of contact. You can also hire us for individual services based on your needs: design only, construction only, permit processing, or plan corrections for designs that didn’t pass permit review. We meet you where you are in your ADU journey.
How much does an ADU cost in California?
ADU costs vary significantly based on type (garage conversion vs. new construction), size, finishes, site conditions, and location. Because every project is custom, we don’t publish fixed prices. During your free consultation, we assess your property and goals, then provide a detailed estimate tailored to your specific project.
What is the timeline for an ADU project?
Timelines depend on project type and complexity. California law requires permit decisions within 60 days, and our permit-ready designs typically get approved faster than average. Total project duration—from design through construction—varies based on scope. We provide detailed timelines during your consultation after understanding your specific project.
What if my ADU plans were rejected by the city?
We specialize in fixing ADU plans that didn’t pass permit review. Our plan correction service analyzes why your design was rejected, addresses all issues, and resubmits until approved. This is often faster and more cost-effective than starting over. Contact us for a free assessment of your rejected plans.
Can I build an ADU on my property?
Most California single-family and multi-family residential properties can have an ADU. State law has removed many barriers—owner occupancy requirements are relaxed, parking requirements are often waived, and setbacks are minimal. During your free consultation, we assess your specific property to confirm ADU eligibility and explain what’s possible.
What is the difference between an ADU and a JADU?
An ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) is a complete independent living space up to 1,200 sq ft that can be attached or detached from the main home. A JADU (Junior ADU) is smaller (max 500 sq ft), must be within the existing home footprint, and requires an efficiency kitchen. JADUs have simplified permits and don’t require fire sprinklers. We design and build both.
Do you handle all the permits and paperwork?
Absolutely. We handle 100% of the permit process—applications, city communications, plan check corrections, inspections, and final approvals. You never have to visit the permit office or figure out confusing regulations. Your ADU will be fully permitted and legal with all paperwork in order.
What areas of California do you serve?
We serve all of California. We have particularly deep experience in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and surrounding areas including Irvine, Pasadena, Long Beach, Beverly Hills, and dozens of other cities. If you’re in California and want an ADU, we can help—contact us to discuss your project.
